Mitla Lights

Festival of Lights: Mitla's Illuminated Village

✨ Holiday Season Experience

About This Trip

There are places that shine on their own, but Mitla during the holiday season transforms into a true Mexican fairy tale. We invite you to escape the ordinary and immerse yourself in a unique visual and cultural experience: the spectacular Illuminated Village of Mitla (Villa Iluminada).

Known ancestrally as the "City of the Dead," the town of Mitla is world-famous for its ancient Zapotec ruins and intricate stone mosaics. However, when December arrives, its historic colonial streets light up with thousands of colorful lights, monumental holiday displays, and glowing tunnels that beautifully blend Christmas magic with our deep Indigenous roots.

It is the perfect setting to create unforgettable memories, capture spectacular photos for your social media, walk with loved ones, and breathe in the festive holiday spirit. A truly magical night that celebrates life, culture, and holiday joy!

  • 👟 Comfortable shoes: The experience involves walking along paved and cobblestone streets; sneakers will be your best choice.
  • 💵 Cash (Mexican Pesos): The vast majority of local stalls selling corn (esquites), warm fruit punch (ponche), traditional bread, and souvenirs do not accept credit cards.
  • 🔋 Power bank: You will be taking so many photos and videos that your phone battery will drain fast. Don't forget a portable charger!
